Turn-based or real-time: which suits your phone better?
Combat systems feel very different on a phone than on a PC. What works with a mouse can turn into thumb chaos on glass. So when studios pick turn-based or real-time, they're making a bigger decision than they might realize.
Turn-based combat is a natural fit for mobile. It gives you time to read the screen, tap deliberately, and pause when your bus stop arrives. Ashen Hollow does this well — its fights are quick but never rushed, which is exactly right for short sessions.
Real-time can work too, but it demands cleaner controls and forgiving design. Tideborn Command gets away with it partly because you can pause and issue orders. Without that pause, precise real-time input on touch gets messy fast.
My honest take: for anything with depth, I lean turn-based on mobile. It plays to the platform's strengths — pauses, glances, quick decisions. Save the twitchy real-time stuff for arcade games where reflexes are the whole point.
